On this episode of the Circuit of Success, Brett Gilliland welcomes multi-sport athlete, Chairwoman of the Powered by Hope Foundation and author of Powered by Hope: The Teri Griege Story Teri Griege.

Brett and Teri sit down to talk about her experiences as a multi-sport athlete, her battle with cancer and her philosophies for living the best day today.

Bio courtesy of Linkedin:

Teri Griege is a wife, mother of two, and a lifelong athlete who had already completed two Ironman races by her late 40s and seemed to have it all.

But looks can be deceiving, and when she set her sights on her dream to compete in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii;

Teri was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Someone else might have crumbled. But, Teri did not let her devastating diagnosis thwart her dreams of competing in Kona.

Instead of giving up, she dug deep and pushed even harder.

While undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, dealing with bouts of exhaustion and nausea, and enduring colon and liver resection surgeries,

Teri never stopped training for the Ironman World Championships. On October 8, 2011, at the age of 50 and still battling Stage IV colon cancer, Teri crossed the finish line in Kona.

Since that date in October – and still battling colon cancer – Teri has continued to train and to compete and has now also completed the World Championship Half Ironman and all six World Marathon Majors.
