As a Senior Wealth Advisor with The Insight Group, he also works directly with clients to develop goals-based, wealth management plans.
Selden has over 30 years of experience as a financial advisor and senior executive in the wealth management industry, much of that with Merrill Lynch. He has enjoyed the opportunity in his leadership roles to have hired, trained and coached countless industry professionals. He has served on the executive operating committee for Merrill Lynch’s private client business, and was the Regional Managing Director for parts of ten states in the Midwest. He was consistently recognized for company leading performance results.
Selden joined the Visionary team from Altius Learning where he teamed up with some former Merrill Lynch colleagues as a Partner and Principal to deliver evidence-based training to industry advisors and managers.
Joining Visionary Wealth Advisors in April of 2015, gave Selden an opportunity to leverage his industry executive experience to contribute to investors’ needs. He was attracted to the culture and philosophical views and values of Visionary’s founders, Brett Gilliland and Tim Hammett.
He holds Bachelor’s and MBA degrees in Finance from University of Missouri, and is a graduate of the Executive Leadership program from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Selden, and his wife Ellen, have five children, two of which are employed in the investment industry, and their youngest is still in college. The Martin’s returned to the St. Louis area in 2006 and reside in Clayton. Selden is a current board member for the St. Louis Zoo and the St. Louis Sports Commission. Ellen is a realtor for Laura McCarthy realtors and has served on the members board for the Missouri Botanical Garden, been a board trustee for St. Louis University, and a past board member for the St. Louis Archdiocesan finance committee. They are both active philanthropically for our greater community.
