Matt Adams is an American professional baseball first baseman who is currently a free agent. Nicknamed “Big City” for his imposing size and ability to regularly hit long home runs, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Adams in the 23rd round of the 2009 MLB draft from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Cardinals in 2012. In his rookie season, Adams hit 17 home runs in 296 at-bats. In addition to his stint with the Cardinals, he has also played for the Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals and the Colorado Rockies. He married his wife, Kim, in 2020. They reside in St. Louis during the offseason.
